Part of what makes Lottie unique, is that her themes and activities are reflective of the real (and imaginary play-based) lives of children, from ballet to robot building, stargazing, imaginary dress-up play and even martial arts!
Kawaii Karate Lottie represents children learning about karate, improving their techniques through practice, all while trying to achieve their yellow belt. Kawaii Karate Lottie also teaches children how karate can inspire a sense of dedication, an awareness of self-defence from an early age, instil self-belief and prompt respect for others; important life skills learned through play.
Kawaii Karate Lottie is all about the safe, and fun ways to explore new hobbies and adventures, being active and strong willed!
Kawaii Karate Lottie in Action!
Lottie is inspired by the work of modern-day female role models, all with diverse backgrounds and interests including astronomy, paleontology, robot-building, ballet, music and sport, women whose ground-breaking achievements will serve to inspire a new generation of girls. One of these inspiring women is Sensei Debi Steven.
Whilst developing Kawaii Karate Lottie, we had some excellent expertise provided by Sensei Debi Steven, Debi is the founder of PeeWee Karate and the head of Funakoshi Karate in London, who teaches young girls to achieve their potential through learning karate. Originally from South Africa, Sensei Debi represented the Springbok "all styles" karate team and competed at both a national and international level. She is also founder of a ground-breaking initiative to deliver free self-defence classes to underprivileged women and girls in India ACTIONBREAKSSILENCE. Debi has been awarded an International Woman of Change Award and her work is also the subject of two documentaries: “Breaking the Silence” and “Power”, an award-winning documentary.

Debi on Lottie:
“I am hugely supportive of the positive messaging behind these dolls, and how they work to empower the children who play with them. Lottie dolls enable girls to learn about self-defence from an early age, and encourage young girls to be themselves - these are values we can truly get behind.”

Kayla on Lottie; "I really like my Lottie doll a lot, I have also named her Lottie too. I like that she has the same uniform as me and so do my friends at my Taekwondo class. I like that her hair doesn’t tangle up like most of my other dolls, her hair is lovely and soft and so shiney. She stands up too, none of my other dollies can do that. I like that my Lottie dolls looks like me. She doesn’t wear jewellery or make-up and she’s very bendy (flexible) and it’s really easy to change her outfit too. I really like my Lottie Doll."
